KIA MEMORIAL QUILT

Quilt Block Specifications

(Please check with Quilt Coordinator before making block to ensure name is not previously spoken for.

Block Instructions: (all 100% cotton)

Start with one 6 1/2-inch muslin square. To that, add a 2 1/2-inch border strip (w/either a patriotic or military theme) on all four sides, using 1/4-inch seams. This makes a 10 1/2 inch unfinished block.

In the center of the muslin square, you will add the information for your chosen serviceman/woman. The information should be in the following format:

Rank
First Name (middle name is optional) Last Name
Service Branch
Hometown, State
Age

You can add this information using any method you wish. Please, make sure it is permanent and won't ‘bleed’. These quilts will be traveling and will be handled and packed repeatedly.

We will also be making up a book to travel with the quilts. This will include any notes or letters that you wish to send, expressing your feelings, gratitude to the families, reasons for taking part in the quilts, or just to say thank you to those that have given their all in service to their country.
